Is your racing budget being hurt by the fledgling economy?
Tuesday June 02 2009

Unfortunately, the economy has hurt many businesses and industries so severely that one has to wonder if there is light at the end of the tunnel. Racing is not exempt from these financial woes of the world. No chicken little, the sky is not falling but the bootstraps have been tightened up and the extra spending practices have been postponed for now. Survival is the keyword nowadays for families, business and the motorsports world alike.

Some tracks are reporting better competition and revenues because of the overall economy and the need to reduce traveling expenses in order to compete while others have had to shut the doors forever. There are no clear cut answers to this new statistic, but the right thing is to promote your local track, sponsors and fans alike for they will support you in return.

What about your racing budget or in particular, your SAFETY budget? Has your track safety team had to cut back on equipment or supplies because of reduced income at your local track or is it doing better as more racers compete closer to home and can still provide quality services?

Have you the racer had to cut back on replacing your worn belts or not purchased the new helmet because you needed that money to freshen the motor? Do you have crash damage to your chassis or racing seat that you should really get fixed or is it just patched to make next weeks "money race"?

Just remember one thing; it doesn't matter what the financial conditions of your owner or sponsor are or whether the track you race at has a full grandstand or not. What matters is that if you race anything, eventually you will crash. Period. It's not a matter of if but only when and how bad that has yet to be determined, so be prepared!

So if you want to stay safe for that unexpected turn of events, don't skimp on making sure your personal safety plan and your racing safety equipment stays up to snuff. Your life and your fellow racers lives may depend on it. Contact us at here RSI for more information. Peace.
